Congratulations to all our club members who recently competed in the Audi Hamilton Island Race week. Bill Dicker and Carmel Edwards raced their newly acquired Seawind 1000, Miz Behavin, taking out first place in the Cruising Catamaran Division. Mark Tobin, together with his brother Greg, entered their newly acquired Farr 40, After Midnight, to a very credible 5th place in the IRC Div2 taking out 2nd place in the 3rd race of the series.

On Miz Behavin Bill and Carmel were accompanied by JBCYC members Kevin & Jo Lord and Allan & Kerry Leach. They were ably assisted by friends Andrew and Sally Eaton. By the 5th race of the 6 race series Miz Behavin was in an unbeatable position having taken out 2nd position in 3 races and 1st position in 1 race. A 3rd place in the final race confirmed their winning position. Thirteen multihulls contested the division, Miz Behavin being the smallest of the fleet and a Catana 59 the largest.

Overall the conditions were excellent for sailing however tides, inconsistent wind, currents, long courses and limited time frames all meant the tactical skills of the crews were tested constantly. Racing courses were sailed around the spectacular Whitsunday Islands with starting lines within the vicinity of Hamilton Island.
