Commodore Shane certainly knew which weekend to skip the country for warmer waters.  Sundays weather forecast was a steady 16 knots from the south, but as the boats prepared for the start, it was gusting over 20 knots and some crews were opting to put a reef in at the last minute. The 5 Cats and 3 Division 2 boats got away cleanly with the monos heeling over all the way to the S1 mark. Overture and Tranquillity had their usual battle to get to S1 first with Overture rounding first this time. Motion won the battle of Division 2 boats to S1 and in the overall results with Rockhopper taking out 2nd place. Division 1 started 10 minutes behind the others and it took Captain Mark on Cougar and his crew until the last mark, and using their spinnaker to finally run the Cats down, pass and cross the finish line in front of the fleet.Cougar taking out S1.

A few boats had gear malfunction and retired from the race. With waves coming over the bows on some of the legs and the wind and rain,  some hardy sailors enjoyed those conditions others thought better of it and headed for calmer waters.  Overture lead the fleet briefly before Tranquillity passed them heading towards the C2 mark, both boats doing 7-8 knots. Tranquillity took out line honours, (thanks Revolution Sails) and crossed the line 2 minutes in front of Overture. Overture took out first place on handicap with Tranquillity 2nd. Division 2 was won by Motion 2 minutes in front of Rockhopper .  In Division 1 Cougar was first, Manly Too 2nd.  Thanks to birthday girl, Carmel for assisiting with the presentations.
