Opening Season Race

posted Sep 17, 2017, 5:27 AM by David Churchward
A sunny day and a chilly 10 knot southerly wind greeted the 13 sailors who celebrated the end of the winter recess to declare the 2017/18 Racing Season open. A short 7 knot course was set in Hare Bay which took 1 1/2 hours to complete. Although times were taken no one seemed to be taking the racing seriously, instead simply focusing on enjoying the sailing. Tranquility represented division 3 and took out overall line honours. Wine Down very credibly represented Division 1. Cougar tagged along for a while but then went missing in action.

The race was followed by a free BBQ back at the clubhouse and the 'Skippers Meeting' where skippers were briefed on relevant aspects of safety and risk management for the club's activities.

The next race on Sunday 24 September is the first of the Spring Series. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
