1.                  Race and Organising Authority

This regatta is organised by the Jervis Bay Cruising Yacht Club Inc. and the races will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in The Racing Rules

of Sailing for 2009-2012, Yachting Australia’s prescriptions to those

rules and its Special Regulations and by these instructions.


2.                  Eligibility and Entry

The regatta is open to all Seawind catamarans.

Boats need to complete the entry form and pay race fees to be eligible. Entries will be accepted on the attached form by post to JBCYC, PO Box 173, Nowra, NSW 2541 or late entries may be received at the Briefings (See 6 below) prior to the race.


Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability

insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 (recommended

$10,000,000) per event or the equivalent


All competing yachts shall display sail numbers


3.                  Safety

All entrants are required to comply with the equipment requirements of Category 7 plus the following inclusions:


(a) a boat shall have a VHF marine transceiver and

(b) a boat participating in a race shall carry pyrotechnics (flares) as specified in regulation 4.22 for Category 5

4.                  Sails


            Entrants may only use a mainsail and a non-overlapping jib. Spinnakers,    screechers, code zeros or other any other extras may not be used.


5.                  Fees

Entry fee is $2

6.         Schedule of Events

Registration will be accepted from 9.30 am on Saturday 2nd May 2009 at the Huskisson Wharf, where a competitors briefing will be held at 9:45 am sharp.

The sailing instructions for the regatta will be available after registration and race fees have been paid. In addition, registration and a briefing at the same times will be available at the Junior Sailing Club at Callala Bay for those yachts spending the night in that vicinity.


There will be one race. The warning signal will be after the start(s) of monohull yachts competing in the JBCYC Round the Bay Series at approximately 11.10 am.


7.      Racing Area and Courses

The race area will be Jervis Bay. The Bay is approximately 8Nm long and 5Nm wide. The course will be issued with the sailing instructions. The course will also be posted on the club website approximately 24 hours prior to race


8      Scoring

For the Seawind Cup boats will be scored on handicap according to their yardstick as determined by the race committee.


9      Radio Communication

Radio communications between the Race Officer and a boat in a race will be on VHF Channel 77.


10      Prizes

      The Seawind Cup will be awarded to the handicap winner. Prizes will also be        given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places on handicap. 


      All boats that complete the race will be eligible for a special prize to be    drawn out of a hat.


Prizes have been generously provided by Seawind Catamarans.


11.       Wharf Space and Moorings for Visitors

Public moorings are positioned in Shark Net Bay (immediately below Huskisson Hotel), at Callala Bay and at the southern end of Jervis Bay at Hole-in-the-Wall. There will also be wharf space available in Currumbene Creek where boats will be able to raft up on Saturday night. Skippers should check water depth before entering or leaving the creek.


12.       Saturday Night Social and Presentation

A great social and presentation will finish off a great day of sailing on Saturday night.  This will be held in the outside beer garden of Huskisson Hotel.  The pub will have a special meal is on offer:

500gm marinated scotch fillet on the bone

BBQ corn on the cobs

2 mixed salads

Grilled onions

Fresh bread rolls


            Complimentary drinks will be provided by Seawind Catamarans.


13.       Facilities

      Race Headquarters will be at Huskisson Hotel beer garden, which overlooks         the Bay.  This will also be the focal point for spectators, family and friends, as      well as the all-important post-race Social on Saturday night. 


14.       Disclaimer of Liability

      Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule

      4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability

      for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction

            with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
