JBCYC Angel’s Café Summer Series Race 1

posted Dec 3, 2014, 4:19 AM by David Churchward

A single down wind start saw 13 yachts cross the start line at 11:30am last Sunday in a consistent 15 to 20 knot NNE breeze. The field soon separated as the Division 1 boats responded to the breeze and as a group headed across the Bay to the LongNose Point Mark. Cougar and Mohawk led the fleet from early in the race, but on handicap first place went to Brazen followed by the Navy’s Friendship.

The catamarans in division 3 also responded well to the breeze staying closer to the division 1 boats than the division 2 boats. Overture enjoyed a fantastic sail being the first catamaran to the LongNose Point Mark and then leading the others home to take out line honours. On handicap it was Sas Sea in first place followed by Overture and then Tranquility.

In division 2 Matana took an early lead however she was overtaken by Motion before reaching the bottom mark. Motion then led the way home followed by Matana and Wotalife. On handicap it was Wotalife taking out first place followed by Matana and then by Motion.

The after race presentation was held at Angel’s Café in Huskisson where the live music was appreciated by all.
