Creswell Cup

posted Feb 23, 2017, 6:51 PM by David Churchward

The Creswell Cup, one of the highlights of our racing season, will take place on Saturday 11 March 2017. There will be lots of fanfare with the race starting off HMAS Creswell at 12:00. The race start will be called by Navy officials on board a Navy Steber. This will be an Around the Bay race finishing at Callala Bay. All boats will be allocated to either the Navy Team or the JBCYC Team in matched pairs based on their handicap rating. The team with the most overall wins will be the holder of the coveted “Creswell Cup” for the next 12 months. Briefings will be held at Callala Bay foreshores at 9:30am with an on water briefing by VHF radio at 11:30 (CH 77).

The after race function will be held at the Callala Clubhouse on the Callala Bay foreshores. The presentation will commence at 5:30pm to be followed by a catered meal provided by the Navy, this will consist of  a spit roast and gravy, hot potatoes, salad, bread rolls and condiments. Live music will be provided by the Navy Jazz Band, one of Australia’s premier ensembles. Many thanks to the Creswell Albatross Sailing Club for organising this.

The cost for all of this is just $10 per head. The remainder is being subsidised by Jervis Bay Cruising Club and Creswell Albatross Sailing Club.
