JBCYC have been enjoying a great racing season experiencing the full gamut of sailing conditions in the past month in races 3 and 4 of the Revolution Sails Spring Series.

Race 3 on Sunday 24 October was held in a stiff southerly that had the fleet around the course in record time under cloudy skies and occasional patches of rain. 16 boats contested the race, 8 each in Divisions 1 and 2.

The multi-hulls revelled in the conditions with Denis Godfrey’s ‘Wahoo’ taking line honours followed closely by Brian Saunders ‘Sea Change’,  John Lawrence’s  ‘Sas Sea’ and Alan Leach’s ‘Tranquillity’.

Race 4 on Saturday 6 November was a complete contrast with a light fluky south-easterly lifted early on by regular gusts but eventually settling to 5-10K.

The race was incorporated in the annual Jervis Bay Challenge sailing event held by Jervis Bay Sailing Club. 22 JBCYC boats took part in the race and it was quite spectacular to be part of the overall race fleet of 48.

The course took both divisions on the same route, a complete circuit of Jervis Bay anticlockwise from a start off Huskisson past Plantation Point, HMAS Creswell, Honeymoon Bay, the top of Hare Bay then back down to Huskisson, with a sausage leg up toward Callala and back again before finally crossing the finish line.

The club acquitted itself well in this mixed class competitive event with Dave Bennett’s ‘Sapphire Dancer’ taking out the keelboat division and Brian Saunders ‘Sea Change’ the multi-hull division.

The fifth and final race in the Spring Series will be held on Sunday 21 November, race briefing at Callala Bay at 9.30am.

Then here’s still plenty of racing before the Xmas break with
